The order that protects the metal

First pass is a thorough clean for loose dirt, fuel residue and road film. Then every surface gets inspected for corrosion or deep oxidation that needs heavier correction before finer grades are worth starting. Skipping grades is the most common way a polish ends up with swirl marks in it.
